Inside SOLIS

Who We Are

The Student Organizations of Library and Information Science (SOLIS) at the University of South Florida (USF) consist of three separate student chapters of the American Library Association (ALA), American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T), and the Special Libraries Association (SLA). Originally, the student chapters of these three groups worked individually. The separate groups began to work together as one large organization because of common goals and the benefit of pooled resources for larger events and fundraisers. Currently, these three groups maintain separate contact with their respective parent organizations for financial support.

Officers

The Executive Board is made up of eleven elected officers: a president and vice-president for each chapter, as well as an archivist, a treasurer, two secretaries, and a webmaster for the group at large. For more information about the board, elections, and other policies, consult the wiki.

Committees

There are eight committees, ranging from socials to fundraising, Committees are an excellent way for all members to get involved and to gain experience with event programming, fundraising, marketing, or publishing. For more information, including the current committee chairs and members, see the Committee section of the wiki.
